The Tree of Life stands proudly as the icon of the newest (1997) Disney World Theme Park, Animal Kingdom.  This huge park is home to both theme park attractions and perhaps the most pampered animals on earth.  A mixture of Zoo and Theme Park, this is "Nahtazu", or Not-A-Zoo.  The animal attractions blend in seamlessly with thrill rides.  One minute you are taking a stroll through a path watching bats and tigers; the next you are boarding a boat and getting soaked on Kali River Rapids.  Each "Continent" in Animal Kingdom is expertly created, often by real inhabitants of those areas of the World.  In "Africa" you will see what appears to be an African village; in Asia, you'll find Expedition Everest, which is a roller coaster unlike any other (backwards, forwards, why are we stopping?).  In Dinoland (okay, not a Continent) you'll find just what the name implies...Dinos...recreated only as Disney can.

This beautiful creature is called DeVine, and you'll only see her at Animal Kingdom

Kali River Rapids (warning, you will get wet!)

This big boy looks deep in thought...he probably wants to know why all those weird humans keep taking his picture through glass.

Dinoland as seen from a ride in the morning...get there early and you'll see it this empty too!

The Boneyard is a fun play area for kids, and a rest area for adults!

Bat from the Maharajah Jungle Trek

The afternoon parade is called the Jammin' Jungle Parade, and characters are out in full force!

On Kilimanjaro Safari, there are dozens of different kinds of animals to see.  Both the lion above and the crocs below are out  sunning themselves.

Seeing the white rhino is especially exciting.  Not the friendliest of creatures, if you catch a glimpse of this rhino while on the ride, consider yourself lucky!
